What was the most impactful learning you had from our coaching engagement?
- Taking a step back, “going to the balcony”, and reflective thinking. Pause and take a breath, then rethink the problem.
- listening and not needing to act right away.
- Giving oneself permission to feel and experience, but it is outward actions that matter.
- Do not feel guilty about feeling one thing but pay attention to how I react/respond.
What worked well for you during our coaching engagement?
- Beginning with a reflection, excerpt, quote, or phrase. Using that to contextualize/visualize the situation.
- “Going to the balcony”
- Pause, then experience or be present to what we’re talking about. Acknowledge accomplishments and enjoy that.
- Then rethink the situation and develop best next steps.
What would you have changed to make our coaching engagement more effective?
- I cannot think of how the coaching would have been more effective than the format we used.
- When we were one very other week schedule, it was easier to have examples to review and reflect upon.
- When we were one weekly schedule, we were able to dive deeper into something. Perhaps I would recommend an alternation or fluidity with meeting every other week or weekly.
What observations do you have of me as a leadership coach?
- Steve, you are an amazing listener.
- You have the ability to take a step back and walk me through a situation without leading or pushing.
- You maintain a very good balance with the foundation of a coaching relationship.
- From the outset we understood this is not therapy and this is not you telling me what to do.
- Maintaining those limitations allowed me to own and be accountable to our conversations and what I did with it.
- I felt an immense accomplishment with the progress I was able to make through the coaching.
Is there anything left unsaid that you would like to share with me?
- No, you did a great job and I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate it.

What was the most impactful learning you had from our coaching engagement?
- Having a coach every 2-3 weeks helped set tangible targets and an accountability system for monitoring progress
- External feedback allowed me to see myself in a more empowered way, as being acknowledged allowed me to pause and reflect on the progress made
- Having a safe space to share internal thinking, ruminations, discernments, choice-making has been the most important benefit of the coaching, as you truly listened and I felt heard, and then I could hear feedback and guidance more openly
What worked well for you during our coaching engagement?
- The periodicity of every 2-3 weeks over a 6 month period
- The starting of the session with a guided meditation or prayer or chant
- Your notetaking allowed for the progress to be monitored over time
What would you have changed to make our coaching engagement more effective?
- I’m wondering if I can overcome my periodic phases of self-doubt; perhaps there is way to explore this more deeply when it comes to my work in the world—or maybe this is work that I have to elsewhere
- Logistics on Zoom were challenging in the beginning and we worked it out well
- A couple of times you used language that was triggering for me and as I am radically self-responsible for managing my own triggers, I was able to navigate my response. If I was curious as to what you meant by a certain phrase or statement, it was to discern your coaching wisdom beyond my triggered response.
What observations do you have of me as a leadership coach?
- You were grounded, positive, curious
Is there anything left unsaid that you would like to share with me?
- Thank you for taking me on a client
